Firetrucks put on holiday display in Wallington

It’s an relentless thought, but no. If a three-alarm blaze had — firmament forbid — broken out in Wallington on Saturday dusk during what is billed as “America’s Largest Nighttime Firefighter’s Vacation Parade,” you would not have seen firetrucks decorated as Christmas sleighs, plagiarist ships and locomotives rushing to the rescue.
“There are firefighters and implement that are stationed in each firehouse for the duration of the parade,” said Stu Stolarz, ex-chief at the Wallington Fire Hinge on. “They would respond in the same manner as any other time.”
Otherwise, it would be temperately to believe that every firetruck and emergency vehicle in the tri-delineate area was strung with colored lights, festooned with bows and ribbons and garlands, and snaking its striking 5 mph way through Wallington , where as many as 5,000 spectators lined the streets to solace them on Saturday night.
Some 350 decorated vehicles, floats and trailers, manned by personnel from up to 100 fire companies from as far away as South Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania mass to Wallington each year to be part of the blowout event, which began in 2002 and has grown ever since.
