'Work of Art: The Next Great Artist' recap: Enter The Sucklord

We were skilful to get a fix on some of the 14 artists on the basis of a combination of the invitation, the show’s introductory filmed bios, and the artists’ catty comments about one another. For exemplar:

• Jazz-Minh was raised on a “beat commune” and is therefore pegged as a ditzy uncage spirit; beware of countercultural stereotypes.

• Bayete chose a painting of Scarlett O’Hara and chose to choose an African-American mirror image of the Southern belle; he glued dollar bills around the canvas and tried to obsolescent it off as an example of “cultural hybridity.”

• Lola is “this brisk sexpot,” said one opponent. In other words, this condition’s Jaclyn Santos . They wish.

• Kathryn, who in her own in unison a all the same makes three-dimensional gush that looks like bloody cow intestines — vindicate me, “visceral tableaux out of dough and jelly.”

'Work of Art' recap: second-season premiere

" Line of Art ," the art-themed reality competition series on Bravo, kicked off its sophomore salt Wednesday night. The setup was pretty much interchangeable to last season's -- 14 artists phizog weekly elimination based on challenges that ask for them to create works of art in a highly compressed yet frame.

The season's first episode was a mostly straightforward and straight from the shoulder-faced affair. One of the few sources of humor came from hearing the pick occasionally spout pompous art-world drivel, like "cultural hybridity" and "the clink of meaning." (The latter came from New York publication critic Jerry Saltz, who has returned as a jurist.)

Among the more memorable contestants are: Michael Chlebowski, a Chicago circle artist who goes by the name "Tewz"; Dusty Mitchell, an art mentor at a public elementary school in Arkansas; Leon Lim, a Malaysian artist who was born indifferent and requires a translator; and the artist known as "Sucklord" from New York.
