DVD: "Beast Wars" comes roaring back
31.12.69
I have a confession to manage: every night before I go to bed, I pray that the recent resurgence in the Transformers franchise will bamboozle start off to a rebirth of the Beast Wars generation. It was the begetting I grew up with, and I still check the Toys R Us action-figure aisles to see if they found a stash of toys they forgot to sell down the river 15 years ago.
If there's one thing that makes me appear a little old it's that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the premiere of the "Beast Wars" animated series. To exalt, Shout! Factory is rereleasing the series on DVD, and bringing back my minority hopes and dreams with it. This doesn't mark the first then the series has been made available on DVD - it was previously released in 2004, but those editions have crave been out of print and are basically impossible to find (trust me, I've tried).
The Salt 1 set was released earlier this year, but this week brings the conclusion with the set collecting the younger and third seasons. All your favorite episodes of the Emmy-prepossessing series are here, tracing the story of the descendants of the creative Autobots and Decepticons -- the Maximals and the Predacons, mutatis mutandis -- as they battle it out in search of Energon on a mysterious planet on which they failure landed.
