Is Starcraft and/or Warcraft Related in any way to Games workshop's Warhammer Fantasy or Warhammer 40k?
The correspondence between both Warcraft and Warhammer Fantasy Battle is often made. I also keep hearing stories about how the earliest Warcraft was suppossed to originally be a Warhammer Creativity game, but it fell through with Games Workshop and we instead got Warcraft. Is there any stand that the two were originally intended to be in the same universe and a substitute alternatively Blizzard shifted afew details to form the initial Warcraft by including more referenced substantive such as Dungeons and Dragons?
Similarly, is there any way to substantiate that the reason why Starcraft is so similar to Warhammer 40k is in part due to Blizzard still compassion angry over how Gamesworkshop denied them the Dream Warhammer license and thus there are alot of similarities and parallels between the two licenses?
Hello, for starters it is altogether possible that Blizzard stole the ideas from Gamesworkshop. Warhammer 40k has been around since the antique 80's (it was called spacehulk). The Zerg and some of their creatures carry amazingly striking resemblance to the 40k tyranids. Of procedure there could have been some kind of agreement between the two companies on what could and couldn't be acquainted with in starcraft.
On the money aspect...If Gamesworkshop wanted to unavoidable Blizzard they could have. The company has been in business for over 30 years and with some models costing over a hundred bucks each (even the cheaper/smaller models are $18.00 a identical.) I am pretty sure they had more than enough fundage at the period to take on blizzard.
As for confirmation, the only way your gonna get that is to go to the provenance. Find a Gamesworkshop or Blizzard public Councillor and ask them for a straight answer. Odds are that you won't get one, but it could be fun to try. Acceptable luck.
