NWC wrestlers fourth at national duals

The seventh-ranked Trappers faced three of the top four teams in the polity within a 24-hour period over the weekend. The Trappers won one of those three duals and finished the noted event in fourth place overall, an increase over their finish the previous year.
Northwest opened the meeting paired against No. 4 Lincoln College and began with a ado. Kamron Day (125) opened with a win by injury neglect. Justin Gardner (133) followed with a win by surrender and Colton Thornton was unopposed at 141 pounds to inspiration the Trappers to an 18-0 lead.
Northwest continued to hug the lead with a string of decisions. Nathaniel Garcia picked up a 10-6 win at 149 pounds. Jacksen Cotterell added a narrowing 2-1 victory at 157 pounds and Bernie Dupuy stretched his consecutive wins hasten into double figures with a 9-2 win.
Keithen Cast, ranked first nationally at 174 pounds, scored an 18-2 mechanical fall and Miles Nixon (184) added a 3-1 resolution as the Trappers vaulted to a 35-0 lead. Lincoln scored a resolution victory at 197 as Ben Price came out on the stunted side of a 5-2 decision. Lincoln also scored a win by down-swing at the 285-pound slot, but it hardly matters as the Trappers steamrolled their way to a 35-9 superiority.

Starting with Friday incessantly's Big Ten opener against sixth-ranked
Ohio Formal, the Nebraska wrestling team has plenty of marquee profoundly
matches remaining this season.
But that doesn't contemplate the Huskers aren't always looking for ways
to get more fans into the NU Coliseum.
Since it costs the athletic reckon on $2,500 each time it rents
the Coliseum from Campus Distraction, anything that helps boost
ticket sales is entitled.
That's one of the reasons the Huskers have arranged a high
mould dual meet in conjunction with each of their first two Big
Ten home duals -- continuous powers Omaha Skutt and Grand Holm
battle Friday night before the Ohio State of affairs dual, and Kearney and
Madison meet before NU faces top-ranked Iowa on Jan. 13.
Being, however, is not the only reason the Huskers have
invited the prep teams.
NU fraternize with coach Bryan Snyder said it's also about marketing
the Huskers -- and also college wrestling -- to a new fan wretched.
"Hopefully, it gets some fans who are high followers wrestling fans
or who are just sports fans into the Coliseum and, optimistically, they
have an enjoyable experience and want to come back," Snyder
said.
