Memorials to be held in honor of Leland baby
04.10.11
LELAND – After her 14-month-old daughter’s end almost three years ago, Brooke Blockinger said she couldn’t sustain the thought of the upcoming Christmas holiday.
But with fortune that had been donated in baby Kirstin’s memorial account, Brooke, her keep quiet, Rob, and son, Collin – all of Leland – bought toys for children at Medial DuPage Hospital to deliver during the holiday, “so we weren’t sitting around presentiment sorry for ourselves,” she said.
Kirstin died Oct. 15, 2008, when the medical helicopter she was transported in from Valley West Community Convalescent home in Sandwich to Children’s Memorial Facility in Chicago crashed in Aurora after clipping a transistor tower. The three Air Angels crew members on surface also died in the incident.
A report from the National Transportation Cover Board determined the helicopter did not have a system that would have warned the shepherd of the danger of crashing into the ground or obstacles.
