Family makes all the difference; Readers share holiday traditions

During the till 1950s and early 1960s, each Christmas Eve my abrupt
family members (5 of us) would pile in the car with presents received from grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Our bellies were full with homemade yeast rolls folded over pats of butter and other savoury holiday dishes contributed by the component extended families, topped off by fudge-iced chocolate beat cake. We would leave mamaw’s house in the Celanese Village, restless to go home and await Santa. On the way, we’d admire
stars in the sky and multicolor-lit out of doors trees near the Celanese plant, and even the intriguing ardent glow at the periphery of the dark made by the open fires of Rome’s landfill by the river (alcoholic to imagine now). Then we’d swing by the low slung yellow slab
building that was Floyd Hospital, the immense encyclopaedic shrubs in front bedecked by strands of subtle gloomy light bulbs. Oops, let’s circle back to see Santa, his sleigh and reindeer atop the Rome Bank & Upon adjacent to Barron Stadium.

The perfect gift was delivered long, long ago

Joy came down at Christmas — our august gift from God! What does it mean to you? Jesus is not a figment of someone’s inspiration. He was so much more than a baby whose birth we celebrate at Christmas. He was and is both human and God — the son of Mary and the Son of God — who created us, the bailiwick, everyone, and everything in it. We often take all of this for granted.
Jesus walked on this earth, chose unexceptional men to be disciples, left everyday-unique admonition for us so we could live better lives, and He also performed dazzling miracles. All of this is in the Bible. We are so blessed to have the Bible. People who are recorded in the Old Testament struggled through their lives before Jesus appeared, without the promote of Scripture.
We may believe this all at some point in our lives, but then take into account doubters to multiply our doubts. However, when we take the time to say one's prayers, study, and apply God’s Word to our lives we become transformed.
