Healthy causes and fundraisers
STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER. Thursday, Nov. 10, 6 p.m., Danversport Yacht Fellowship, 161 Elliott St., Danvers. Saint Mary Institute in Beverly will host a silent sports and get along auction to raise funds for the purchase of Modish boards for each classroom and to enhance the education of students. Actuality will also pay homage to veterans. $40/ticket includes full dinner. Also, students will convene items for troops overseas. 978-998-6848.
COMEDY FOR SHS MUSIC PROGRAM. Thursday, Nov. 10, 6:30 p.m., Giggles Comedy Clubhouse at Prince Pizzeria, Route 1 south, Saugus. At the time includes all-you-can-eat pizza, raffles and a comedy show. $25/yourselves. Proceeds benefit the Salem High Public school music program. GRAND WINE TASTING. Friday, Nov. 11, 6 to 9 p.m., Colonial Entry, 231 Essex St., Salem. Fourth annual Comprehensive Wine Tasting will feature more than 80 wines present for tasting and wine professionals to answer questions and argue wines. Light hors d'oeuvres served with function music by a small classical ensemble. Destruction FUNDRAISER: SPOOKFEST
More Than Child's Play gets some funding from Toronto Children's Services as well as some from Ontario Premature Years, an arm of the provincial Ministry of children and Youngsters Services.
Money they raise goes toward buying new toys, activities, snacks and grassland trips.
"When you get funding and grants they fund for the program and supplies, but at a defoliate minimum," she explained. "But all the infrastructure doesn't get funded so some of the loaded has to get diverted."
The centre has two fundraisers each year, one in the bounce and one in the fall. According to Conway, the centre relies heavily on funds raised at these types of events as well as donations. Annually they impecuniousness to raise a minimum of $6,000 to cover costs of game the centre.
Their fall fundraiser, Spookfest, is set for this Saturday, Oct. 29th from 1 to 4 p.m. at St. John's Destroy National Catholic Church, 186 Cowan Ave.
The women explained there will be cotton bon-bons, silly clowns, a bake sale, refreshments, mask painting, a bouncy castle, pumpkins, a garments parade and games.
