Cup crazy students aim for sport stacking world record

Cup crazy and speedy students at Lambton Dominant Centennial School near Petrolia will try and pirate break a Guinness world record in play stacking on Thursday, Nov. 17.

Students will take part throughout the day, with speedstacking (cup stacking), to help ensconce a new record for the "most people sport stacking at multiple locations in one day."

The regardless is part of the sixth annual World Sport Stacking Society (WSSA) STACK UP! and on Nov. 17, thousands of participants will take part in what Guinness Area Records terms the world's largest cavort stacking event.

Centennial School teacher Steve McGrail said "The inviolate school is going to participate throughout the day from 9:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students have to be cupstacking and doing any party of challenges for a minimum of 30 minutes. They will be doing this during phys ed and form classes, in their regular classroom or at lunch breaks, etc. Both team and students will be participating."

FLR School to take part in Guinness World Record attempt

Students at Fort la Reine Educational institution will once again be attempted a Guinness World Record in fun stacking.

"Speed stacking is an activity that involves up stacking and down stacking cups and doing it as fast as credible. It uses both hands right and left and you must alternate your hands each one entrancing a turn," said Cam Scott, phys ed mistress at Fort la Reine School. "There are certain patterns that you must augment, so it's a great all around activity for hand eye coordination, speed, remembering patterns, and odd things like that."

Scott said about 150 students from grades 1 to 6 will be stacking on Nov. 17 between 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

"There will be cup stacking in their classes and then I'll have various activities and events set up that they can participate in throughout their class point. There's also timing mats where they can attempt to be as fast as they can and dare their classmates as well to see who is the fastest," said Scott.
