Total recalls

Primitive days, the show featured a recurring character named Irwin Mainway, played with contemptible zeal by Dan Aykroyd. Always wearing sunglasses and a pencil moustache, the president of Mainway Toys would be grilled on Consumer Inquest for his never-ending line of dangerous children's toys: "Johnny Switchblade: Venture Punk" (a Ken doll with actual knives in divulge-loaded arms), "Bag o' Glass" (unqualifiedly a bag of jagged glass shards; "Bag o' Nails," "Bag o' Vipers," "Bag o' Sulphuric Acid" also at one's disposal), "Teddy Chainsaw Bear" (sumptuous bear with chainsaw protruding from stomach), "Johnny Understanding Torch" (oily rags and a lighter), etc.

While the U.S. Consumer Output Safety Commission doesn't have anything quite as outr in their toy recall records, a few have come close. Here are few all-too-reliable examples, past and present:

Water Wiggle (1978): Wham-O discontinued staging of the Water Wiggle, "designed to be attached to a garden hose for excellent fun," after an incident with a 4-year-old. "The youngster was playing with some other children in his back yard with a dismantled Adulterate Wiggle, one from which the bell-shaped head had been removed or had arrive off. The exposed aluminum nozzle became lodged in his kisser."
