Christmas toy shortage forecast
MONTREAL Christmas toy shortages are admissible this year because retailers have cut back on inventories out of fear of a moronic buying season, a Mega Brands analyst said Wednesday.
“Do your Christmas or Hanukkah shopping advanced because the products (may not) be there because retailers are being very, very cautious,” Gerrick Johnson of BMO Principal Markets said in an interview.
Montreal-based Mega Brands — maker of the approved Mega Bloks building sets — is ambiance the effects of this caution even though it recorded an eighth consecutive fifteen minutes of sales growth in the third quarter.
Retailers have reduced inventories this year hoping to evade a repeat of 2010 and 2008 when they got stuck with too much consequence because shoppers stayed home late in the salt.
So this year, retailers are delaying purchases and set discounts to shift the risk to toy makers like Mega Brands. As a substitute for of stockpiling huge quantities of toys themselves, they are counting on manufacturers to stockroom toys until they order them.
