Birthday of Lights Supervisor Harry Himrod, who has been working for the carnival since it began, said there is a tremendous amount of work that goes into maintaining the luminescence displays each year. He said despite the up to date wave of rainy weather that set crews back measure, he expects everything to be ready and in place by next week.
"This week is suppositious to be nice ... in general we're doing at bottom good," Himrod said while supervising several crews who were refurbishing older gentle displays at the park's general maintenance alacrity Tuesday. "Every year we make a list of what has bad wire ties and sockets."
He said workers also have been detailed replacing many of the older lights with new LED lights. Three years ago, the Winter Fete of Lights entered a new "green" era with the commitment to use dynamism-efficient LED lights in all new displays and to begin converting existing displays to LED. All but 70 percent of the show now utilizes LED.
"We added more LED lights of progress, which has been a really big savings," Himrod noted.

Last Saturday, Ms. Mabel Streets of ADS Attraction & MLS Boutique provided a fall fashion show for this community. It was a Christian-based type show with prayer being offered out to the models beforehand and prayer donn at the beginning of the show to all. The lighting of candles, prayer and a skit brought awareness to the seriousness of cancer and representatives from thirty-five churches were recognized in the audience.
Elvis even arrived to occupy for the show along with the KC cheerleaders. And before it was over even Elvis (Travis) found a model for himself – his own bride Lawanna Fried, who was modeling exquisite evening wear for the show. Then together, the couple serenaded the jam at the finale of the show.
Models of all ages were seen wearing the latest fashions in hats, clothing, shoes and accessories. Two models, Ms. Lottie Batts and Ms. Portley were eighty-one years of age. “I made adventures, today,” said Ms. Batts. “At 81, in the prime of my being, I walked down a runway,” she announced.
