Every friend she brought to the farm from her boarding educational institution wanted to learn how to sew.
“My grandmother, mother and Aunt are all mammoth seamstresses,” said Roper. “They taught me this wonderful deftness. I feel like there is a missing link. All the things that adapted to to be passed down from generation to generation seem to have skipped a few.”
Fifteen years ago, Roper came to Terra Linda to be an au set of two for a single mom with three-year-old twins. Eventually, she went back to South Africa, got married, and had a child. When Marin beckoned, she returned to San Anselmo with daughter Lizzie.
