City's '47 Halloween parade had 'bewildering variety' of costumes

The Stratford Rotary Associate began holding an annual Hallowe'en Frisk in 1923. The event was a fundraiser for disabled children and man work in Perth County. Some years the ride out did not co-operate but the event was always considered a success.

On Friday October 31, 1947 the Hallowe'en Merrymaking started off at Stratford city hall at 7 pm. Thousands of children lined up with tickets to draw free horns to blow during the costume parade. The lineup for noisemakers extended all the way around town hall across Downie and Wellington Street intersections. Some were very fastidious about the colour of horn received. Latecomers were disappointed because the Rotary had accepted out nearly 4000 horns and none remained by starting period.

The parade commenced from city hall at 7:30 pm along Downie to Ontario Circle, east to Waterloo Street and finished up at the Armoury. They were leading by the CNR Employees Band who also presented a musical description at the Armoury.

New dad Ian Ziering has a steadfast day planned for baby Mia's first Halloween, while "CSI: Miami" nova Eva LaRue opened up about their expected "3,000 turn the trick-or-treaters." And new mom Tia Mowry said she's "so discomfited" to celebrate with her lil' pumpkin.</p><p> Proceed with reading about how some of our fav celeb parents - including The Guncles, Kendra Wilkinson, and Candace Cameron Bure - delineate to celebrate Halloween.</p><p> Mayim Bialik</p><p> "The Big Bang Theory" play Mayim Bialik is mom to sons Miles, 6, and Frederick, 3.</p><p> Star Baby Scoop: What is your most creative Halloween costume?</p><p> Mayim Bialik: "Our boys are still fetching young and since we celebrate Purim (Judaism's tell off-up holiday that comes in the spring), we get to dress up twice a year! This year we are recycling the costumes I made this since Purim: me as Wonder Woman, Fred as Batman, and my quiet as boy wonder Robin! Miles is branching out and wants to be a werewolf, but other than that, recycling costumes is the most original thing I can think of!"</p><p> CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?</p><p> MB: "We do a reasonable in our homeschool community and the boys went on a hayride today with my quiet. On actual Halloween, we stay home, chip divide up pumpkins, eat roasted pumpkin seeds and my homemade vegan chocolate toffee bark, and go to doze early, as usual."</p><p> Eva LaRue</p><p> National spokesperson for Beckstrand Cancer Basement and "CSI: Miami" star Eva LaRue is mom to daughter Kaya, 9.</p><p> CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?</p><p> Eva LaRue: "This year we are having a collect of friends and family over to our house. We live in a gated community and the whole neighborhood goes all-out out of one's mind! We get about 3,000 trick-or-treaters. We decorate our front yard with cobwebs, coffins, dry ice to turn fog, and we all dress up really scary and spooky! We Darling Halloween at our house!"</p><p> Kendra Wilkinson</p><p> Genuineness TV star Kendra Wilkinson is mom to son Hank IV, who turns 2 in December.</p><p> CBS: What is your most original Halloween costume?</p><p> Kendra Wilkinson: "When the costume didn't get to in time, (I) dressed up like a '70s girls with a immense afro, mini skirt, etc."</p><p> CBS: What are your Halloween plans this year?</p><p> Kendra: "(We) are growing trick-or-treating with a group of friends and their kids in L.A. (We're) customary to be dressing in a '70s theme."</p><p> Ian Ziering</p><p> "Beverly Hills, 90210" leading man Ian Ziering and wife Erin are parents to 6-month-old daughter Mia.</p><p> CBS: What are your Halloween plans this year?</p><p> Ian and Erin Ziering: "Our plans for Halloween is to upon with our neighbors, put Mia to bed by her bedtime (7 p.m.) and have some mommy/daddy formerly over dinner in the kitchen. (Her costume is ) a fairy."</p><p> Alicia Minshew</p><p> Kendall Hart on "All My Children," Alicia Minshew is mom to daughter Willow, who turns 2 next month.</p><p> CBS: What is your most artistic Halloween costume?</p><p> Alicia Minshew: "Being that my daughter Willow is about to drive into 2, we have only done one costume with her. Last year she was a ladybug. And I tied the antennas together because that is the only way they stayed on her peak!"</p><p> CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?</p><p> AM: "This year she will be Tinkerbell (got a purple fairy get-up as a backup). She loves wings! We are going to a sweetheart's little kiddie costume party and then another little meeting. She is a busy girl!"</p><p> Samantha Harris</p><p> Extravaganza Tonight correspondent Samantha Harris is mom to daughters Josselyn, 4, and Hillary, 9 months.</p><p> CBS: What was your most ingenious Halloween costume?</p><p> Samantha Harris: "One year I couldn't over recall of anything, so I went through my closet and found an old red hooded sweatshirt. Then, I cut it up to cosset it into a red hooded cape, found some accessories and a basket and went as Small Red Riding Hood!"</p><p> CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?</p><p> SH: "It's the infant's first Halloween, so we're decorating the house with the items from the pumpkin pad, going to a Halloween carnival and then some neighborhood misguide-or-treating."</p><p> Candace Cameron Bure</p><p> "Prosper It or Break It" star Candace Cameron Bure is mom to daughter Natasha, 13, and sons Lev, 11, and Maks, 9.</p><p> CBS: What was your most original Halloween costume?</p><p> Candace Cameron Bure: "I went as an African-American '60s go-go dancer! The main part makeup took a long time and the titanic afro rocked. No one at the party recognized me, not even my closest friends. It was nice-looking sweet."</p><p> CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?</p><p> CCB: "My kids still like to cantrip-or-treat, so we'll be cruising our neighborhood with family and friends. My boys Maks and Lev are common as Captain Jack and Captain America and my daughter Natasha will put something nutty as a fruit cake together from her closet and trunk full of old costumes. I usually wear a wig of some sorts and got the "Mad Hatter" from the Disney Stockpile. I'm sure I'll be tweeting Halloween pictures!"</p><p> The Guncles</p><p> "Tori &#38; Dean: Residence Sweet Hollywood" stars Bill Horn and Scout Masterson are "The Guncles," and are dads to daughter Simone, 1.</p><p> CBS: What are your Halloween plans this year?</p><p> The Guncles: "Halloween is serious charge at the Masterson-Horn house! Last year was Simone's first Halloween, and we started a ritual of coordinating our costumes. She sported 3 different outfits, our favorite being a pea in the pod. We placed her (gently) into a big pot with untried vegetables, and then the Dads dressed up as chefs. Measure twisted? You bet! So this year she will also have three Halloween costumes a new one for each consequence. First, she'll be an M&#38;M for her school parade. Then this weekend, she's affluent as Little Bo Peep and we'll be her sheep. And then on Monday afternoon for humbug-or-treating, she'll be a baby chick and we'll be farmers. Very lively!"</p><p> Alysia Reiner</p><p> "Edgewise" star Alysia Reiner is mom to daughter Livia, who is about 3.</p><p> CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?</p><p> Alysia Reiner: "One of my fav years of Halloween was my first Halloween as a married babe, and we went as nuptials returns. I was a 12-inch Tiffany vase and David was a crystal cut basin. We wrapped ourselves in bubble wrap and went to Fed-Ex and UPS and the circulate office and got a ton of shipping labels and covered ourselves with them. Made a ton of people roar with laughter in that knowing way, and was the easiest costume I ever created!"</p><p> CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?</p><p> AR: "In between performing one lightly, rehearsing another, and promoting my film "Race Grieving," I'm running to our Halloween chunk party between! We have an awesome community of moms on our erase, I love them so much. It's such an amazing feeling having a honest community in Harlem - I thought that was only possible in the 'burbs, but you can discover me walking down my street with a casserole dish to a kid mom's house. And Sundays from 4-6 we do playdates (with dinner for kiddos and vino for the moms &#38; dads)."</p><p> Marissa Jaret Winokur</p><p> Retired at 35, actress and "Gambol Your Ass Off" host Marissa Jaret Winokur is mom to son Zev, 3.</p><p> CBS: What will Zev be for Halloween this year?</p><p> Marissa Jaret Winokur: "Halloween is commonplace in our house because my son loves costumes and candy! But this year, at first he wanted to be a policeman so I went out and bought that costume. Then one day we went to the bank together and he became completely obsessed with the UPS man. So he asked me to get that costume for him. We went to the put by and it was the cheapest costume they had! At first the clerk wasn't even sure if they had that costume. He said, 'Nobody wants to be the UPS man!' But we found it and the only greatness it came in was Zev's size.</p><p> Zev puts that costume on every day, all day! He line for line thinks he's the UPS man. He collects shoe boxes and goes surface the door, rings the doorbell and says, 'I've got a carton!' And then he says, 'Open it!' He is up at 5 a.m. and he's like, 'Is it morning ease? Do we get to play UPS again?'"</p><p> CBS: Are you going out manoeuvre-or-treating?</p><p> MJW: "Yes, and I've made a box with a slit in it for him to put the confectionery inside the box. He wants us to be the packages. So if we can get our act together, my husband and I will do that. Zev said, 'I hanker after you to be really big packages that I have to deliver.' I'm going to be sticking my feet through a in the final analysis big box! Everybody else gets to wear sexy Halloween costumes. I'm effective to have a big box around my boobs and belly! I will not be the sexy box! There will be the sexy cat mom and the mom in the sex tiger costume. But I'll be in a big box! We live on a cul-de-sac where it's really easy to go shenanigans-or-treating so it'll be a lot of fun."</p><p> Maria Canals Barrera</p><p> "Wizards of Waverly Good form b in situ" star Maria Canals Barrera is mom to daughters Bridget and Madeleine.</p><p> CBS: What was your most resourceful Halloween costume?</p><p> Maria Canals Barrera: "My most inventive costume was my ever-evolving Genie one. I was about 9 years old and my grandma (who was a seamstress) made it. Every year we'd find even improved accessories to make it more beautiful! Better beads to hobnob with from the waist, more shimmery material for my veil, new sequins for my headpiece. I wore that costume for 3 years. Each point, it was new and improved."</p><p> CBS: What are your plans for Halloween?</p><p> MCB: "This year my m and I will trick-or-treat around our wonderful neighborhood with our two girls and some friends. We did the pumpkin mend last weekend and I baked three pies from scratch --- made with natural fresh pumpkin, not from a can. They were delicious! Our girls Passion handing out candy almost as much as trick-or-treating, so we'll do that first."</p><p> Tia Mowry</p><p> "Tia and Tamera" distinguished Tia Mowry is mom to son Cree, 3 months.</p><p> CBS: How will you consecrate baby Cree's first Halloween?</p><p> Tia Mowry: "Cree is affluent to be a fireman! We have the whole outfit. He is even going to rock the hat! Lets see if he keep it on - It is the cutest trend! I was so excited to get his first costume."</p><p> CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?</p><p> TM: "My favorite costume growing up would have to be my angel costume. I wore a disc and wings. It was simple and easy. Also, everyone always seems to be extremely grisly and I wanted to be just the opposite."</p><p> Wendy Williams</p><p> Mom of 11-year-old son Kevin, Wendy Williams, said that everyone on her show, "The Wendy Williams Show," will honour Halloween in costume, including her guest "The Condition."</p><p> CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?</p><p> Wendy Williams: "It was a DIY (do-it-yourself) in 5th group. I wore black tights, got a large box from the back of a grocery cache and covered it with white construction paper. I put big malicious circles on it and 3 holes. I was DICE. Haaa!"</p><p> CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?</p><p> WW: "We're present to keep the door closed and lights out. Our son doesn't characteristic-or-treat. It's a Monday, so homework will have to be done."</p><p> Alexis Bellino</p><p> "Legal Housewives of Orange County" diva Alexis Bellino is mom to son James, 4, and 3-year-old combine daughters Melania and Mackenna.</p><p> CBS: What was your most artistic Halloween costume?</p><p> Alexis Bellino: "My most imaginative Halloween costume is this year's costume! I had major sinus surgery a week ago and I'm still a scant black-and-blue, so I'm going as a female boxer and Jim as my trainer!"</p><p> CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?</p><p> AB: "This year, on Friday, my kids and I are growing to their school Halloween party. On Saturday, we are all prevalent to the 18th Annual Dream Halloween event that benefits Children and Families Unnatural by HIV/AIDS at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Jamie Lee Curtis is hosting again this year and Josh Duhamel will be honored - we are all very ardent! On Halloween night, we are trick-or-treating in our kids' friends' neighborhood!
