A Tiverton man received beset and various charges last weekend after police responded to several 911 mingle with up calls to a Corys Lane residence.
Jeffrey D. Arruda, 43, of 121 Corys Lane, Tiverton, was arrested at 12:03 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 at his habitation. Arruda was charged with domestic simple blitz and battery, two counts of domestic refusal to abandon a telephone and vandalism.
Police responded to the dwelling-place that night after several reported 911 hang ups, according to Lt. Patrick Jones. While driving down the avenue, Jones said police saw a vehicle coming the vis- direction with a male and female in it. Officers stopped the car and the 43-year-old female "jumped out" and claimed her boyfriend struck her several times and pulled her hair. The 19-year-old masculine driver was identified as the boyfriend's son.
Jones said officers advised the two to go the the heat station, while the officers went to the Corys Lane stately home to speak to Arruda. Through an investigation and interviews, the fuzz learned that an altercation erupted that evening between Arruda and the girlfriend, and then the old lady and Arruda's son took off.
