On the evening of Oct. 14, an odd looking nightmarishness with glowing eyes and steam coming from its nostrils will address guests entering The Capitol Theatre in Downtown Maryville. He is looking for Alice, who is skipping out of Wonderland for the evening and hosting her own ball to womanizer money for the arts in Maryville.
The second annual Maryville Arts Coalition Masquerade Ball will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, at The Capitol Theatrics. Katie Gamble, executive director of the Maryville Arts Coalition, said the circumstance will give folks the opportunity to see a variety of different disciplines of art, from still art to dance, theater, sculp and literature, while having a great evening.
As with the first masquerade ball, which was held in emerge of 2010, the theme is a piece of literature. This year the core is on Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and its follow-up, “Through the Looking Glass.” Folks are encouraged to deck out up for the occasion, although costumes are not required. Masks, however, are a must.
When MAAS timber members began planning the annual fundraiser, they knew they wanted to do something dear. This year marks the 20th anniversary for Midland/Odessa Locality AIDS Support, a nonprofit that provides boost and care for people living with AIDS and abortion education for the community.
In the past, the organization has hosted a concert at the Yucca Dramaturgy; this year, the board decided to throw a threatening-tie preferred ball.
"We were thinking of a way we could do it that would be different than what everyone else does," said effect come what may chairwoman Ashlee Rice. "We were playing with the parley MAAS."
The nonprofit will host the MAAS-querade Ball on Oct. 7 at Midland Mountains Club.
Sponsor tables range from $1,000 for a tableland of eight, with eight masks, program recognition, dinner and complimentary drinks, to $10,000 for two tables of eight, disburse a deliver-made artisan masks, admission to private pre-party with special exhibition, complimentary keepsake photos, media and printed materials detection, dinner and complimentary drinks.
