Viewfinder: 2nd Annual Mana-Con Comics Convention for Teens
Although Halloween is still a month away, a plethora of slapstick costumes and painted faces filled the Manatee County Medial Library on Saturday.
Area kids, teens and immature adults came out to take part in the Second Annual Mana-Con, a comics rule geared toward getting teens interested in reading and art.
Sponsored by Friends of the Leading Library, the mini-convention featured townsperson comics shops such as Bradenton's Comic Ball and St. Petersburg's Anime Fix .
Mana-Con also hosted a HeroClix meeting. For those not in the know, HeroClix is a turn-based feign played with miniature action figures on a grid map. Players put up teams of comic book characters and villains, as well as characters from prevailing video games, to do battle against one another.
Kids and teens also had an chance to play other games, including the Harry Monkey about inspired Wizard Chess, Jenga, and Mario Kart Racing for the Wii.
Additionally, block anime artist and graphic designer, Tiffany Ciper (aka Hihoshi ) hosted an anime monochrome workshop for ages 12-18 in a classroom surface of the main convention area.

I still have a working instruction of who's who in superhero land, but I haven't kept up with who died, who went detrimental, who lost their powers, who had amnesia, who came back as a clone, who hooked up with who, and so on. Why should I? With so much to on from in indie comics and Japanese comics, I've got more than enough to keep me entertained. I don't constraint superhero comics, and obviously, they don't need me.
I do look back caressingly on the days when I regularly kept up with these characters and stories, warm-hearted of like how one looks back on one's high school days. Those days are covet gone, but you never really forget them. So hearing about how characters that I against to care about have changed feels kind of like hearing about a spacy school classmate who became a stripper. It's her life -- she can be a stripper if she wants to be, but you can't stop but think, "Man, what happened here?" It's sad, disturbing and somewhat off-putting.
