Explanation from Susan McAnally (mom of 3): I make sure the costumes are age happy and not scary. Although, my kids don't like scary so it isn't an matter. We do hand-me-down or we buy the costume.
Answer from Michelle Cluver (mom of 2): I basically let them bear up whatever they want. I don't have a problem with too scary or gory, but I have a question with too sexy for the girls. I haven't run across that problem yet, but as she gets older it may be an climax.
Answer from Beth Gowie (mom of 3): I have a real difficulty with the girl costumes that are out there. My daughter who is 7 wanted me to buy her a niche maid, skanky outfit! It's ridiculously ungermane what they have available for girls.
