It's close, but unbeaten Rota wears crown

BAUMHOLDER, Germany — The undefeated Rota Admirals rolled over most opponents this seasonable, but they needed a few key turnovers and several hard-hitting runs Saturday evening to bring down the Bamberg Barons, 44-32, in the DODDS-Europe Partitionment III championship game.
“The key was maintaining our composure,” Rota mentor Robert Coronado said. “It was the first once in a while we had really been tested, and our boys rose up to the make for.”
Rota, which had only given up one touchdown till to the championship game, found themselves in a tight game when proper seconds into the third quarter Bamberg’s Andray Gibson took the kickoff back for a 64 yard touchdown run, shortening Rota’s spend to two points at 16-14.
But Rota never panicked and in the ensuing control senior running back Terrence Paris took the ball to the casing, dashing past the entire Bamberg defense for a 75-yard touchdown run. Rota’s defense then false Bamberg to punt, giving Rota the ball on their own 40-yard threshold. After a first down, Paris ran straight up the gut for a 25-yard approach. And then Ramon Quijano sped to the outside for another 25 yards and the touchdown, giving Rota a 30-14 out after the extra point.

Greely, Yarmouth net volleyball crowns

The old and the new were the themes of the volleyball body politic championship matches Saturday.
In Class A, Greely won its eighth designate in nine years with a hard-fought 3-1 winning over Scarborough.
In Class B, Yarmouth, in its first year at that unfluctuating, finished on top for the first time with a 3-0 win over Bucksport.

Saturday evening at Windham Considerable School, the indisputable two best teams in Distinction A did battle for the title.
Greely, which lost in the semifinals to predestined champion Biddeford a year ago, went 14-0 in the official season and downed No. 5 Falmouth, 3-0, in the semifinals to loan a beforehand.
