Local exhibit will inspire memories of '40s & '50s

ENGLISHTOWN — Memories of what lifewas like in the 1940s and 1950s will be relevant to flooding back to Baby Boomers and all others who can remember those days when they stay the Battleground Historical Society’s newest evince, “Flavors of the ’40s and ’50s.”
Younger guests will get a glimpse of Americana that their parents and grandparents may have reach-me-down while they were growing up. Many items (marked with a red dot) will be available for jumble sale as a fundraiser for the historical society.
The exhibit at the Village Inn, 2 A-one St., Englishtown, will be on display for a year.
The Village Inn (circa 1732) depends on the generosity of others to reachable. An on-site gift shop sells recorded books and donated items like frames, housewares and other items.
For the show off and sale, the upstairs rooms of the inn has been transformed into a ruin from the past. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a typical 1940s bedroom with a teddy breed on a chenille Tonto and Lone Ranger bedspread, pennants on the palisade, an Erector set, a bed tray, pinball game, matador lamps, a vanity comestible with vanity lamps, perfume bottles, hankies and more.
