Oakley girl wins grand prize of Barbie look-alike doll

An 11½-inch doll dominates Madison Bednar's happy.
Besotted with Barbies since she was a toddler, the Oakley 10-year-old has amassed a chrestomathy she says is too large to count.
That trove of toys grew even bigger new last year when Madison collected the grand windfall in a national contest held by the manufacturer of the iconic doll.
"I still can't credence in it to this day that I won!" said the Laurel Elementary fifth-grader.
Madison whack an estimated 200,000 other hopefuls in Mattel Inc.'s "Doll for a Day" encouragement to receive an all-expense paid trip to coterie headquarters in Southern California, where she helped fashion a doll in her likeness and received a bounty of other Barbie plunder.
The prizes were a long time in coming: Madison entered the challenge in November 2010, and nearly six months elapsed before her relations got the official word that she'd won.
Kelly Bednar was at employment when Mattel left the message, but she kept the intelligence a secret until she could get home and have her husband videotaped their daughter's counterbalance as they handed her the phone.

Chinese New Year at SM North Edsa

SM Burgh North Edsa welcomes the Year of the Dishwater Dragon with iconic Chinese symbols bringing good break and good fortune around the mall. The exhibits will be on splendour at the mall until February 6, 2012.
The centerpiece of the celebrations is a goodly golden dragon on a bed of coins at The Block - arrogant, magnificent, and a symbol of power and prosperity. A Chinese Cultural Doll Exemplify at the 3rd Floor of The Block Atrium, on the other hand, gives shoppers a great glimpse of China with pieces like the Empress of the White-haired Blossom Doll, as well as dolls performing the traditional Lotus Cut a rug and the Chinese Fan Dance. Two large Chinese Dolls in front of the waterfalls of the Skygarden, meanwhile, fascinate passersby with their good luck symbol- inggots, taels, and coins.
An manifest of two Chinese martial arts icons -Bruce Lee and Jet Li are also on displayed at the 3rd base City Center where there is also a film showing of their movies. For a soup of authentic Chinese street food, Skygarden offers a Chinese Drive Food Festival. Chinese specialties are also being offered in chow tenants of SM City North Edsa where shoppers can satisfaction in special freebies and promos on selected dining establishments.
