Parents overreact to tattooed Barbie

The American Academy of Dermatology states one in every four Americans from ages 18-50 has a tattoo, so why is Barbie not allowed to have one? Children who keep one's eyes peeled the nightly news are exposed to more vulgar substance than a doll with a flower tattooed on her plastic body.

Since 1969, Mattel has been producing put one's money where one's mouth is-thin dolls that give girls unreal ideas about what they should look like.

Researchers at the University Middle Hospital in Helsinki, Finland ex-plained that if a girl had measurements equivalent to Barbie's, it could be troublesome. "If Barbie were life size she would lack the 17 to 22% fullness fat required for a woman to menstruate," the researchers said.

This is not the first spell one of Mattel's creations has caused controversy. In 2002, Mattel released a heavy with child version of Barbie's friend Midge, who came unmitigated with a removable baby.  Overly emotional parents complained it was sending the wrong communiqu; not because she was pregnant, but because she was sold without her husband.

But its off in the retail Halloween costume market was more of a big break, says Beige. In 1972, his father passed away -- leaving the reigns of the ensemble to his wife Tillie and then 23-year-old Marc, who took over as president and renamed the traffic Rubie's Costume Co. At the time, he says, the 1976 U.S. bicentennial celebrations intriguing place all over the country increased demand for costumes. "There was no occur to purchase a relatively good-looking livery that could be a replica," says Beige who celebrated the opportunity and quickly got to work building a boundary of costumes for the celebrations.

Once the parties ended, he expectation: Why stop now? In 1973, Rubie's Apparel Co. had begun making full-length costumes that Halloween revelers could buy instantaneously. But after the bicentennial the company began to ramp up casting in a big way. Initially, it sold to rental shops. Today, it sells to every notable retailer, including Wal-Mart and Target. Rubie's costumes typically promote for $20 to $50. Though for $1,000, you could snap up a life-size facsimile of the Star Wars' Stormtrooper alike. "We literally helped create the sedulousness as we went along," says Beige.
