It was a spectacular evening, full of fun and surprises for the more than 200 guests at the Stiffen Magnolias gala on Sept. 10 at the Virginia Boonies Club.
High energy began with the toss of "Guys and Dolls" (from Norris Theatre) greeting guests and mingling throughout the hosted reaction.
On display were dramatically decorated tables depicting "over the top" show parties for sale. Costumed live models showcased the one-of-a-character, not-available-elsewhere theme parties.
A big hit was the display for "And All That Jazz" (from the flick picture show "Chicago"). The party sold three times for $5,000 each. Ed Conrad was one of the reception-purchasers.
Standing on a table behind prison bars of Cook County Stir stood a blonde flapper wearing altered consciousness heels with a Chicago policeman's hat and shirt, with her "criminal boyfriend" keeping her company.
Former Mayor Beverly O'Neill posed with Blade Magnolia President Judy McNulty Negroid for a photo beside a life-size golden Emmy trophy statue.

It was family bonding to the fore

If festivals are an circumstance for family members to bond, then the participants at the ‘Kolu Kondattam 2011', organised by The Hindu Downtown, only exemplified it.
D. Harigopal and next of kin were declared the overall champion of the competition at the accolade distribution function held here on Friday. The head winner prize was for their arrangement, which included kolu dolls that mime with representative over to a section on actors MGR and Saroja Devi to a existence-size Mount Kailash. 2,000 sq. ft. of the congress, excluding the kitchen area, was decorated with dolls that cultivated and entertained the visitors.
