Every year for Halloween, Nikki and her initiator dress up in matching costumes, Nikki explained — Spiderman and Comrade Wall, Princess Leia and Chewbacca, Dorothy and Lion, Floweret and Bumblebee, and Joe and Blue from the children’s TV show “Dejected’s Clues.”
This year, Christian Schmidling was common to be Lord Cucuface. “I’m not too propitious about the name,” the Sleepy Hollow resident said.
Also vying for one of the attire prizes was Snow Princess Bethany Simpson, 8, whose aunt Ronda Feller lives in Knocked out Hollow. Franz and Margitta Stark of Sluggish Hollow came with their daughter Jennifer Ledford of Lake in the Hills and their granddaughters Layli Charneske, 19 months, and Anieka Charneske, who last year won in the preschool grouping.
Hundreds attend the annual event, which features hay rides and pumpkin decorating for children, a chili counter with delicacies such as “Goblin It Up,” “Not all there Brew” and “Diabolical Debacle,” and a pie oppose for those without iron stomachs.

Nashville Ballet has selected juvenile dancers to appear in the annual performances of Nashville’s Nutcracker Dec. 9-18 at TPAC’s Jackson Theatre.
“Dancing in a version of the Nutcracker is the first professional exhibition experience for most dancers, so our goal is to extend that possibility to as many aspiring dancers as possible,” Director of Artistic Operations Sharyn Mahoney said. “Even those who have been dancing for years tip the excitement of their first Nutcracker performance.”
Performers were selected in community-to the utmost open auditions of young people from the Nursery school of Nashville Ballet and other schools of dance throughout Tennessee. Members of the salad days cast come from 11 Middle Tennessee counties, including Wilson, Davidson, Sumner, Rutherford, Bedford, Maury, Williamson, Dickson, Cheatham, Montgomery and Robertson, as well as Kentucky.
They will do alongside 22 members of Nashville Ballet’s finished company and 25 members of its second coterie. They include:
