Report cards show 15 of 18 area school districts failed to make AYP in 2011
Herald-Whig Cane Writer Illinois school report cards show communal schools across the state are having an increasingly grim time keeping up with the standards imposed by the federal No Offspring Left Behind legislation. The reports -- released today by the Illinois Splendour Board of Education -- show 15 of the 18 adherents districts in Adams, Pike, Hancock and Brown counties failed to urge "adequate yearly progress" on state tests in 2011 , up from 13 in 2010 and six in 2009. Meanwhile, 39 of the 49 proper schools in the four counties failed to make AYP, up from 24 in 2010 and 13 in 2009. Nation assessment data released by the ISBE shows 80 percent of all Illinois junior high school districts failed to make AYP in 2011, up from 64 percent in 2010. Only eight exuberant schools in the state made AYP, the ISBE said. This spiralling trend has prompted Illinois and many other states to look for a waiver from the NCLB standards by agreeing to on certain reform provisions. The UFC middleweight titleist has been given 24 hours to accept Chael Sonnen's suggestion for a rematch on Super Bowl weekend with much more than UFC gold at bet.
"Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck," Sonnen told Joe Rogan after defeating Brian Stann at UFC 136. "Wonderful Bowl weekend...the biggest rematch in the experiences of the sport. I'm calling you out, Silva. It's time to up the stakes. I fustigate you, you leave the division. I lose, I will leave the UFC forever."
Since the challenge, Silva has remained rather quiet. His manager, Ed Soares, has gone on memento to call Sonnen "delusional" and suggested that he "take a number and get to the back of the area."
At the UFC post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana Milky stated that Sonnen was likely Silva's next rival.
There have been rumblings within Silva's camp of a shoulder damage that could keep him out of action for the early part of 2012.
"Anderson, you've got 24 hours to take my offer. I suggest you take it; my next one won't be quite so nice," Sonnen tweeted on Saturday.
