'The Vampire Diaries,' Season 3, Episode 1, 'The Birthday': TV Recap
16.09.11
Acceptable back to “The Vampire Diaries,” the unnatural soap that’s been diary-free since 2009. Here’s where we communistic things last season: Damon loved Elena and got bitten by a werewolf. Elena loved Stefan and kissed Damon, virtuous to keep things interesting. Stefan loved Elena, traded himself for a prescription for Damon’s bite, and basically became Angelus—e.g. sinister übervamp/werewolf hybrid Klaus’s right relief demon. Vampire Caroline and werewolf Tyler certainly loved each other, but couldn’t be together. Jeremy… existed. All caught up? Dependable.
We open with a scene from Stefan and Klaus’s Downfall Tour 2011. They arrive at a big, old, white undertaking in rural Tennessee and, after Klaus fails to hypnotize one of its inhabitants into inviting him in (note to Klaus: effective someone, “I promise I’m not a serial killer, I legitimate want to us your phone!” just makes you unmarred more like a serial killer), he compels her to do it a substitute alternatively. Once he’s in, it’s only a matter of time before Klaus gets the sheila and her friend to confess that Werewolf Ray is at a nearby watering corner—and it’s even less time before Klaus commands Stefan to liquidate both women. Stefan does as he’s told, though not without looking handsomely tortured.
