Gamers from five states gather for Heroscape competition in Forest City

FOREST Megalopolis — You’ve never heard of Heroscape?
Don’t worry, you’re not alone.
But for 64 gamers gathered at 32 tables in the Atrium at Waldorf
College Saturday, the pastime was everything — a game that one of the
organizers called “chess on steroids with Legos.”
Participants ages 10 to 60 came from five states — Iowa,
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Missouri — to pleasure. Prizes were
awarded, but winning prizes was nothing compared to winsome the
game itself.
So — what is it?
It is a board game. And more.
“I say it’s the easiest racket to learn but the hardest to
master,” said Ben Ross, who traveled from Milwaukee to act a stress.
Michael Jordal of Austin, Minn., organizer of the circumstance,
agreed.
“Kids 6, 8 years old can enjoy oneself — there are simple rules,” he
said. “It then gets more complex.”
Indeed.
The prepared is played on a board called a map, built in 3-D mode
with Lego-type tiles, whose arrangement is based on special
scenarios.
