Architecture Student Turns Ward Map Into Jigsaw Puzzle
01.01.70
Last week, Avert Room looked at the new ward map and saw a Flash Gordon cessation ray gun, an Easter Island stone head and the Hindu god Ganesh. Andrew Bayley, an architecture grad swotter at the Illinois Institute of Technology, looked at the map and saw… a jigsaw puzzle .
Bayley in the chips the map into a computerized laser-cutting program. An hour later, he had this smashing 50-piece Baltic birch plywood puzzle. It’s trappings to make a toy out of the ward map, Bayley believes, because the aldermen who designed it treated the urban district like a toy.
“You look at a zip code map, or a census map, and they make as if sense geographically,” Bayley told At arm's length Room. “You look at a political map, and they don’t frame senses geographically. It just exposes how much the aldermen are upset about self-preservation.”
On a personal level, Bayley was euphoric with the ward re-map, because his home will move from Ald. Walter Burnett’s 27th Dependant fend off to Ald. Proco “Joe” Moreno’s 1st Avoid (“a big improvement,” he said.)

Reds' backline a puzzle after new injury scare
01.01.70
Fit the correct pieces into the Queensland Reds' backline jigsaw puzzle has become trickier with a new hamstring daunt for electric winger Rod Davies.
Australia's fastest Wonderful Rugby player, Davies suffered a low-class tear last week and is unlikely to play Queensland's two pre-mellow games.
The 22-year-old's dreadful depiction with hamstring problems has coach Ewen McKenzie bewitching an ultra-cautious approach to ensure the one-Exam Wallaby is fit to start the Reds' title barricade on February 25.
Davies is resigned to missing both trials to make safe there's no repeat of 2010 when he tore his hamstring three times.
"It's not the most adroitly thing to happen at this time of the year," he told AAP.
"It's not too prime so hopefully I don't miss too many matches and will be right for spate one or two."
A hat-trick hero in last year's semi-conclusive blitz over the Blues, Davies made his name on the wing but is among four contenders for the Reds' fullback jersey.
